Germaine LaFitte is an Aréolean journeyman, theologian, tailor, and later settler of the Anguille Settler League.
History and Biography
Early Life
Germaine LaFitte was born 21 Frimaire 1643 in a village just outside of Brest to master craftsman dyemaker father Jean-Luc LaFitte and an unknown mother. Germaine was separated from his mother by his father for unknown reasons at the age of 3. Germaine worked with his father in the dyemaking guild at the early age of 9, ahead of his peers. By the age of 17, Germaine had set off on his own and had started a small tailoring stall in the streets of Brest. By 22, he had become a journeyman in the local tailoring guild. Around 1667, Germaine had found himself in a position of considerable leverage in the guild, and used this leverage to make sure he was one of the few guild members set on the [De Remuva-Ortiz Expedition]. It wasn't until 1670 that the funds and supplies were gathered to actually begin the voyage.
Theologian Career
Somewhere over the course of the De Remuva-Ortiz Expedition, Germaine had grown tired of the life of a tailor, and by extension, the life of an accomplished journeyman. By the time the New Messina settlement was founded, Germaine had begun studies to become a theologian. During this time, Germaine had studied aspects of nativist religions, considered taboo under the King's rule. Additionally, Germaine looked into religions centered around Luna, the alleged genderfluid goddess of the moon. These efforts were hampered by the Solar Order, who seek to oust any bastions of lunacy in the Empire, including in the colonies. This set-back led to Germaine seeking re-enlightenment from the Solar Order to find his way with Sol Magna again.
Settler Career
With the founding of the Anguille Settler League, Germaine sought to promote the settling of islands beyond Saint-Martinaise. While he has some respect for those who come from the Kingdom of Pahak, he believes in the absolute supremacy of the Anguille and puts the colony's interests far beyond that of Pahak.
