Backstory

Childhood

Kino was raised from humble beginnings in the feudal Swopian Empire. Born into a working class family, Kino was raised along with 2 brothers and one sister by his mother Kaiva Volchok, a homemaker, and father Soběslav Volchok, a carpenter. Kino's childhood wasn't different from other Swopian children at the time, mostly involving working in the family business and arguing with siblings, until Kino received a video camera and a roll of film for their 10th birthday.

Kino would go on to film various aspects of Swopian life, including the streets of the capital city (when the family had to visit ministries for paperwork), the countryside where his grandparents lived, and just the areas surrounding their townhome. She would end up capturing a lot of footage of the Swopian Revolution.

Adulthood

Kino's nihilistic film on the depression of swopian life under the tsar would end up winning a partial scholarship and passing the entrance exam for the Swopia Academy for Film and finished a 4 year degree. Unfortunately, Kino would be devastated to realize film majors don't make any money, and had a short stint at a law school, taking a few semester's worth of classes. Ultimately, after some soul searching, kino would drop out of law school and peruse their dream of filmmaking. As part of a 2-year mandatory military service, kino would briefly be enlisted in the Swopian's Liberation Army as a journalist and photographer.

Exile

Kino would produce the film roughly translated to "The New Abnormal". The film would feature still shots of dilapidated communal apartments, empty grocery stores and secret police activity and was a commentary on the quality of life not improving after the revolution. Kino would be arrested and be placed infront of a judge, narrowly escaping death due to the judge being a fan of Kino's work. Kino would be exiled to Faru in 1924, where they met up with Koi Goodfox, a relative and cousin to continue their work as a film maker.
