Donothingism is a de-facto political ideology marked by prolonged inactivity, quitting the server during a term or just neglect for the position.

Causes & Analysis

Donothingism can be adopted through any means, but typically it involves burnout, outside factors, drama or disinterest in the position.

In the Presidency

Notably, most do-nothing politicians have been presidents. This could be because the president both acts as a punching bag whenever something goes wrong, but also has little to no authority or power to do anything. This combination seems to create a perfect environment of not being able to do anything and not wanting to do anything.

Furthermore, getting into the presidency has been easier than most other positions, and even non dedicated troll candidates can be elected. For example, Koi Goodfox won the majority during the September 2024 Presidential Election First Round, despite being a literal homeless anarchist who joined a week prior and a self-described "not serious" candidate, and inactive people such as Abbi Dukakis (with less than a hundred messages in the discord over 3 months) have almost won presidential elections.

In Ministries

Donothingism is also common in ministries that are seldom used, such as the Ministry of Defense (has only been mobilized a handful of times), however, in some cases even large ministries such as the Ministry of the Interior have been plagued by Donothingism.

Arno Fleischer was the Minister of the Interior under Maon Vukusti and received one of the largest budgets in MoI history. Instead of advancing infrastructure, he did nothing his entire term and embezzled the entire 1,750 lira budget into a massive personal blimp and as gifts to his friends.

Prevention

WandaClause

A "Wanda clause" or "Wanda clause" has become a common addition to legal texts, first appearing in the Urbis City Charter under Kino Volchok.

The clause outlines specific protocols for ousting inactive or quit players from important positions. Typically, it combines several of these elements:

  • Allowing for impeachment due to inactivity,
  • Lowering the bar for impeachment in the case of inactivity,
  • Bypassing the requirement for the accused to show up at their impeachment trial,
  • Bypassing the requirement for an impeachment trial,
  • Creating new protocols separate from impeachment.

Paid election registration was imposed by the Faru Government around 1926 to slow the flow of "joke candidates'. The policy has seemed to be successful at deterring non-dedicated candidates who would have been do-nothing politicians.
