Aleksandr Novak was born in the city of Gludapestenfurt to Jozef and Andria Novak. His father, Jozef, owned a small cobbling business. His mother, Andria, was a seamstress.

Aleksandr, through some stroke of incredible luck, received the blessing of a Slorbo-Glomorian Baron to receive a finer education at the University of Chinnsbruck in Slorbo-Glomoria. The education would be paid for as long as Aleksandr would return to work for the Baron. Aleksandr received his BSEE (Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering) approximately 3 years before the Revolution.

After his involvement in a number of student groups protesting the monarchy, Aleksandr fled Chinnsbruck with nothing but the clothes on his back and found himself in the Farun region. With the help of a small farming family, Aleksandr was able to work around the farm in exchange for food and shelter.

A year later, when he had figured the heat had died down, he moved on to Urbis City, approximately a year before the Revolution. There, Novak became involved in the Liberal Underground with a small group of intellectuals, including Chaton. During this time, Novak pushed for the ethnic recognition of the Cossack people in Slorbo-Glomorian politics, but stepped away from this idea publicly when Cossack pillagers ransacked villages post-Revolution.

By the time the Revolution hit, Urbis City had grown extensively. The Liberal Underground had taken hold as the main political force in Urbis, and Chaton had quickly enshrined themselves as a heroic figure before being taken out during the Cossack Invasion. After an election had been held to determine the new Mayor, Novak had been sworn in to finish what Chaton had started.

Novak began his foray into politics through the creation of the Liberal Caucus, a group of like-minded liberals that worked together successfully with Conservatives, Monarchists, and unsuccessfully with Socialists. Novak was one of the original draftees of the Constitution, after talks with the People's Social-Developmental Party fell through in the very early stages. The Constitution was, by the end, primarily written by Velik iz Dunska, another fellow left-leaning liberal.

For a decent amount of time, Novak did not hold political office. He had run for President in 1920, losing to Wanda Ward Jr., and lost again to John McHale in 1921. It wasn't until the beginning of 1921 that Novak was made Speaker for the Senate. He was lauded for his performance in this role, leading him to success in other political ventures. However, after a serious economic blunder by the Liberal-Conservative party regarding the overproduction of Lira and undelivered diamonds to match, and a failure to recognize or respect Novak's more left-leaning positions, Novak left the party, writing a scathing book detailing the failures of the party called REVOLT! The book was received favorably within communities that did not care for the Liberal-Conservative Party, but it was mostly out of a hatred for the party rather than an agreement with the book's substance.

In a strong left-turn, and, as disputed amongst scholars, a result of a nervous breakdown, Novak went on to secretly found the Communist Party of Faru. Through greater organization, Novak was able to secure a key leadership position in the decrepit New Farun Labor party. With this new political power, Novak and his comrades transformed the party and led very successful campaigns in many districts.

Eventually, the New Farun Labor lost the faith of the people, and with that faith came seats. The Liberal-Conservative Party took control again, and Novak, either for his political prowess or out of fear for his safety in the nation, was sent out by John McHale as a foreign minister to the Swopian Union.
