New Rochefort and Territories, also known as the Territories, are a territory in Anguille comprised of several islands. It was established as a commercial monopoly by the New Rochefort Company (NRC), based at Fort New Rochefort.

History

New Rochefort and Territories was formed after the de Remuva expedition claimed several islands in the new world and formed the New Rochefort Company. The company would later gain a contract from the Crown to manage and governor the territories through a monopoly on the 22nd of Pluviôse, 1670. On the 25th of Pluviôse, a constitution was adopted following its creation by de Remuva.

Governance

The structure of governance and the administration of the territory is determined by the various documents. In it, the territory is governed by the Governor who is also the head of the Company. The Governor has all executive and legislative authority over the territory as granted to it by the contract. The Governor is advised by the Advisory Council made up of selected Officers of the Company, with the exception of the High Representative. The High Representative is a position made up of one of the Heads of a Villager Village. Company officers are responsible for civil administration and law enforcement. Ad hoc courts are established by the Governor when needed.

Economy

The New Rochefort Company dominates commerce in the Territories and has drawn on the local population for many of its employees. This necessarily meant the hiring of many Villager workers. The primary means of income for many had to do with the various industries the Company is occupying: production, distribution and sale of a varieties of goods, primarily mineral and agricultural; the largest hub of such economic activities being Fort New Rochefort at the Island of New Rochefort. The primary buyer of NRC products being the Colonies of Anguille and the Kingdom of Aréole.
