The New Rochefort Company (NRC) is an Aréolean contracted crown company formed by merchants and adventurers founded in 1670. It gained royal approval and contact the year of its founding following Marquis de Remuva's expedition. The contract granted a monopoly of sole trade and commerce over the new territory of New Rochefort and Islands established by the de Remuva expedition.

History

In early 1670, the De Remuva-Ortiz expedition took off; they landed in the now-named New Rochefort island and established the fort of New Rochefort on the 15th of Pluviôse, among other islands. De Remuva and their crew made the assessment that the islands would work as a centre of trade, commerce and production with the New Rochefort Fort as the headquarters. It was then that they formed the New Rochefort Company.

After laying claim, in the name of the crown, several islands and territories (Sickjoan, New Rochefort, Félin, Viernor, Money Island, New Heavensworth Plantation). For this, de Remuva, as head of the company, wrote back to the Count of Rochefort and the King of Aréole over these successes and the possibility of contracting the company for commerce, trade, and control of the territories as a monopoly outside the colony.

On the 17th of Pluviôse, the New Heavensworth Plantation, owned and operated (following a treaty with settlement after a dispute) by the Company, was attacked by pirates starting the First Pirate War. Following this, the New Rochefort Company Militia was formed.

Official contract was granted by the new Viceroy of Anguille by the 22nd of Pluviôse. The gave the Company monopoly and jurisdiction over the newly established New Rochefort and Territories, with de Remuva as governor. On the 25th of Pluviôse, a constitution was adopted following its creation by de Remuva. Following the navy's failure to end piracy in the continent, and following renewed conflict in Aréole that called back the navy, the Company was given the responsibilities and priveleges of the navy in the continent to get rid of piracy on the 27th of Pluviôse.

Operations

The New Rochefort Company currently operates the production, distribution and sale of a varieties of goods, primarily mineral and agricultural. The Company has also constructed various forts on territories claimed and legitimize through treaties made with local Villagers. The Company also is the official government of New Rochefort and Territories.

Structure

The New Rochefort Company operates with a very rigid employee hierarchy. This hierarchy essentially broke down into two levels; the officers and the employees. Officers form the Board of officers that act as an executive council, headed by the Officer Chief Executive. Each officer holds different titles depending on responsibilities, such as the Officer Chief Militia, Officer Chief Factor, Officer Chief Planner, etc. The territories held by the Company is headed by the Governor of New Rochefort and Territories, currently the Marquis de Remuva. Depending on responsibilities, a Officer heads a department that manages a specific task (mining, sailing, diplomacy, etc).
