The 1st Farun Senate, met from May 9, 2024 to May 26, 2024, in the Urbis Capitol Building. With the initial meeting of the Senate, the new Farun Government started operating within the frame set by the Farun Constitution. The apportionment and districting of the senate seats was exceptionally done by the Constitutional Convention, as without a president or senate, it was impossible to appoint justices of the supreme court to do so. No party reached a majority in this senate, but it was generally dominated by the new Liberal-Conservative Party.

Major Legislation

  • The Farun Penal Code, a foundational piece of legislation that created the criminal legal system in Faru.
  • The Poll Tax Act, a law that established the first national tax.
  • The Anti Public Assembly laws, a law and amendment meant to render the Public Assembly useless and establish full senatorial supremacy.

Members

Multiple senators were elected under banners that did not exist by the time the senate first met, such as the Liberal Caucus and the Conservative Party, which on May 7 merged into the Liberal-Conservative Party as well as the People's Social-Developmental Party, which reorganized itself as the Farun Labor Front on the same day. The situation immediately after the election can be seen on the first image in the gallery next to the member's list, with yellow representing the liberals, blue the conservatives and red the socialists.

Senators were elected in three staggered circuits for terms of six weeks, meaning that southern senators were supposed to serve up until the 2nd Senate, the central senator up until the 3rd senate and the northern senators up until the 4th senate.
