Starting in Infaru 5, the core gameplay loop is significantly different than vanilla Minecraft. As the Lore Primer and Professions System discuss, certain crafting recipes and abilities normally allowed to players by default are locked behind professions. This article was made to address concerns of players that don't know how to start and fill in the blanks.

Overview

Fundamentally, Infaru 5 is different from the vast majority of other Minecraft servers. Typically, players can expect to run off to the far reaches of the planet, live completely self-sufficiently, and come together only for big events like killing the Ender Dragon before they burn out after two weeks. To combat this cycle, and to add an element of realism to Infaru 5, players cannot live as a master of all trades. Just like you wouldn't see a professional chef out in the forest hacking down a tree, or how you wouldn't see a farmer swinging a pickaxe in a strip mine, no individual player can gather every kind of resource by themself. Trade with other players is absolutely required to survive on Infaru 5, and the key to success is to produce as much of your specialized products as you can, and then trading your surplus material for other people's surplus material.

Thus, Infaru 5 is a server whose foundation is the practice of logistics. The typical player could expect to live in a house built by their local town's carpenter using wood bought from Reauce and stones from Tal-Sharir, while surviving off food harvested from and cooked in the Crownlands, and making a living by forging tools from Daaracari ore and selling them to workers in Nechar-Icain. Moving supplies is the means by which people survive and thrive in Carpesia, and it is absolutely imperative for your survival to connect to the trade network and find a reliable niche in the market.

Trade Between Players

Trade routes over land need to be constructed by players (see Infrastructure), but trade routes over the seas between port cities can be accessed by any merchant with a naval vessel. Ranging from as simple as boat chests, to entire Movecraft boats carrying loads of cargo, trade by the seas is vital for moving supplies around the archipelago. Upon server launch, the islands already had three port cities; Sinos, Tumul, and Vidinia. While it's possible to travel and sell one's own products, that is often too time consuming for most producers to find palatable. Thus, an economic niche for Merchants also arises, those who take on the work of moving supplies from supplier to consumer. Naturally, for their work, Merchants find themselves in the unique position to control the market rates, and will often sell their supplies to consumers for more than they purchased them.

International Trade

In addition to trade between players in Carpesia, there are two trading posts in the waters surrounding the Carpesian Archipelago. Being able to trade with Yellicia and Pastiche, Merchants can use these trading posts to acquire items that are unobtainable by normal players (such as materials exclusive to the Nether and End dimensions), and can also sell supplies to these foreign nations for payment in Gilders. Utilizing these trading posts is essential for savvy merchants who are seeking more competitive player markets or who have more supply of a good than there is demand for it in Carpesia.

Starting Out

At the very start, no matter what profession or origin you choose, it's possible that you will start entirely alone. Without other players around, your access into the economy is extremely limited, and you won't be able to do much. However, some recipes have been added explicitly to assist the early game when critical professions are missing.

The following recipes are available to all professions:
