Professions System

From Infarupedia

In Infaru 5, the Professions System is the primary way in which players form and interact with the economy. Normally in Minecraft, players are able to do whatever they want; build anything, craft anything, mine anything, be anything. The Professions System allows for a diversified economy by restricting players from participating in every sector of the economy at once. As a trade-off, players who focus on a profession will have access to recipes and actions that others do not have, and will get significant bonuses that increase as they gain experience in their field. For example, miners will be the only profession that can mine copper, iron, and other ores. In return for this rather boring ability, miners can gain experience from mining and, at higher levels, extract even more ores per ores mined. Toolsmiths, as another example, have exclusive access to most tool and weapon recipes, excluding stone and wood. However, they do not unlock every recipe right away; they must first work at their profession to become skilled enough to craft iron and diamond tools. As they level up, they will also get access to higher-quality versions of these same tools that dramatically increase the durability of said tools.

Professions are tied to characters. If your character canonically dies, and your character's death status is set to true, you must delete your character and create a new one. When deleting your character, this also loses your profession along with all of its XP. This is strictly to encourage caution with characters and to prevent the "Joe Assassin" archetype, but also remember the guiding philosophy of Infaru: losing is fun! This gives you the rare opportunity to seek a new profession and a new life.

Professions can be set with the command /profession set [playername] [jobname], unset with /profession unset [playername] [jobname], and your level and profession can be checked with /profession view.

Beware, you can only set your profession once every 5 days! Unsetting your current profession will lose all of your XP from that profession, so make sure you know what you're doing.
