Reauce, officially the Marquisat of Reauce, is a feudal province of Carpesia located on the Reauce island of Tarbor.

Institutions

Marquis

The head of the province is the Marquis, officially a peer of the Prince of Carpesia and their vassal. The Marquis is the proprietor of the entire marquisat. The Marquis holds lordly powers and responsibilities vested in it since the Custom of Rochefort before the establishment of the Principality. The Marquisat of Reauce was established with the House of Remuva-Yuzil as its Marquis.

Politics, Courts & Administration

Though the Marquis is the office with the mandate to govern, for practical purposes other advisable institutions have been establish.

The Bright Government Court is the itinerant court, though it is often stationed at Solstice. The BGC is made up of ministers appointed by the Marquis.

The Reauce marquisat is divided into three parts: Solstice, Rétat and the Rollet Plains. Each of these have a town with a Marquis-appointed Mayor. These mayorships appoint a representative to the General Court of Towns to advise the Marquis on town and regional matters. Professional companies and non-professional companies (to a lesser extend) select a representative to the General Court of Corporations to advise the Marquis on matters related to them.

The Estates of Reauce is not a sitting body but an institution summoned by the Marquis. It is made up of the General Courts, the Bright Government Court, as well as elected representatives of the three estates of Reauce society: the landowners, the Order clergy, and commoners (freemen and tiedmen included). The body is most often called upon during emergencies and is only advisory.

Justice

The Marquis has Justice Courts with Prince-appointed Magistrates. They follow a common law model based on interpreting the Custom of Rochefort.

Financial system

The financial system is paradoxical. Though the Marquisat has shown support to the development of financial industries, it is heavily restricted. Professional can only sell their products or their services through a Marquis-recongized guild-company. There is a set standards of exchange established in the Custom and non-professional companies require state approval. There is an institutional established titled the Chamber of Accounts with the responsibility of regulating the industry.
