Constitution of New Rochefort
The Constitution of New Rochefort refers to both the collection of documents which constitute the New Rochefort Company and Territories as well as the document named "Constitution".
Background
By early 1670, Marquis de Remuva was interested in creating a colony in the newly discovered Anguille continent. They got the support of the Count of Rochefort for the enterprise that same year. They would go on an expedition laying claim to several islands. The expedition was a success as de Remuva and their crew had establish several posts and a fort. After the trip, the Marquis wrote to the crown asking for an official contract. The contract laid the foundation of the constitution.

Contract
After letters sent to the King and the later-established Viceroy, the Crown and Company agreed to the contract below:
ROYAL CONTRACT OF THE NEW ROCHEFORT COMPANY JEAN-JACQUES THE FOURTY-SECOND, By the GRACE of the SUN, King of Aréole, and Sovereign of all her Colonies, THROUGH His Excellency the Viceroy of Anguille JEFFERSON, has dictated this CONTRACT: WHEREAS Our dear and entirely beloved vessel, Marquis de Remuva, and their crew & Company, the New Rochefort Company, have proven themselves entirely reliable and successful in reaching higher and higher riches in the new establishment of Aréolean presence in the continent of Anguille through their own great cost and charges, undertaking an expedition to the northern Islands of that archipelago, discovering man realms and inhabitants, and bringing forth a bountiful trade for furs, tools, and other such commodities with the said inhabitants known as Villagers, and after such establishments and discoveries have encourages others to proceed further in wealth, and with good word from both them and the Count of Rochefort, by means whereof there may probably arise very great advantage to US and OUR Kingdom, WE DO make ordain, constitute, establish, confirm, and declare, by this CONTRACT, that by the same Marquis, turned Governor, and Company of those Aréolean Adventurers trading in those northern islands to be defined in this CONTRACT to hold in perpetual succession the exclusive liberties, rights, and privileges of commerce, production, distribution, and exchange of everything on, in, and of all these seas, straits, bays, rivers, lakes and inlets, whatever their latitude, which are at the entrances to the straits of the territory of New Rochefort and other Islands discovered and authorized to land by the Villagers by the Company or other participants in Treaty and means of cohabitation or surrender, as well as all lands, countries, and territories, mines, caves, and domains adjacent, on the coasts and confines of the seas, straits, bays, lake rivers, coves and straits that the said land will henceforth be recognized and reputed as one of the territories of the crown, called New Rochefort and Territories. WE HAVE given, granted and confirmed, by this CONTRACT, unto the said Governor and Company, and their Successors, as Lords and Proprietors, of the same Territory, Limits and Places aforesaid, and of all other Premisses added by guidelines in this contract which hereby granted as aforesaid, with their, and every of their Rights, and at all Times hereafter shall be, personable and capable in Law to have, purchase, receive, possess, enjoy and retain, Lands, Rents, Privileges, Liberties, Jurisdictions, Franchises, and Hereditaments, of what Kind, Nature or Quality soever they be, to them and their Successors. That the organization of the enterprise and New Rochefort and Territories is to be determined by the Company, in accordance with the contract. ADDING, following our will and good pleasure, all territories and lands granted to the Company cannot be valid without first obtaining permission from the Villagers. That all persons not members of the Company or of one of the Villages or works in trade, who have established themselves, or who wish to establish themselves, voluntarily or otherwise in the above- mentioned territories to withdraw immediately. Territory Constitution
As the territories were growing, the Marquis saw it nessecary to establish a legal framework for the workings of the state. After consultation with company officers, this is what they produced:
CONSTITUTION OF THE NEW ROCHEFORT COMPANY and THE LAWS GOVERNING NEW ROCHEFORT AND TERRITORIES ROBERT-RENÉ ROSE ROMAIN RENAUD de REMUVA, By the GRACE of the SUN, Marquis of Remuva, By Right from the Sovereign, Governor of New Rochefort and Territories, has dictated this PROCLAMATION: WHEREAS the Honorable New Rochefort Company was granted and confirmed monopoly and exclusive liberties, rights, and privileges as well as jurisdiction over lands named New Rochefort and Territories as defined in the ROYAL CONTRACT OF THE NEW ROCHEFORT COMPANY, the GOVERNOR de REMUVA fufills their obligations by said CONTRACT by this PROCLAMATION; BASICS and FOUNDATIONS of the NEW ROCHEFORT COMPANY and NEW ROCHEFORT AND TERRITORIES 1. The Officer Chief Executive of the New Rochefort Company (Henceforth named the Company) is the Governor of New Rochefort and Territories (Henceforth named the Territories). 2. The OCE of the Company is chosen through appointment of previous Company OCE. 3. The Governor of the Territories holds all executive and legislative authority over the land as determined by the CONTRACT. 4. The Board of Officers is the executive committee of the Company made up of Officers. 5. The Advisory Council of the Territories is made up of selected Officers of the BoO. 6. An Officer is a head of a Fort, Post, Factory, Plantation, etc. 7. Officers hold responsibility of enforcing Company and Territories code. 8. An Officer is made after the establishment of a Fort, Post, Factory, Plantation, etc., through the selection of the employees that aided in the establishment of the Fort, Post, Factory, Plantation, etc., or through the appointment of the OCE/Governor. 9. The position of High Representative is a unique member in the Advisory Council. 10. High Representative can only be a head of a village (meaning a Villager). Viceroy Edict
Following the rising issue of piracy, Smith Jefferson, viceroy of the Anguille Colonies, issued this edict:
EDICT #7 DUE to the current leave of the Royal Navy towards the Great and Beautiful Homeland in order to defend the Most Shining Kingdom, and because of the lingering threat that Piracy poses against Good Order as well as the New Rochefort Company, a trusted crown corporation, having the resources for this appointment, the Viceroy edicts THAT: -The New Rochefort Company shall temporarily inherent all edicts, laws, rights, and privileges that the Royal Navy possessed while harboured in jurisdiction the colonies. -The New Rochefort Company shall hold the unique responsibility of destroying the threat of piracy and protect the flow of commerce. -The New Rochefort Company shall be able to use any extralegal means deemed necessary to destroy piracy. -The New Rochefort Company shall be able to call upon the settlement militias in order to fight piracy. -This edict can be revoked at any time by the Viceroy of Anguilles within the jurisdiction of the Anguilles, not contradicting the Contract held by the New Rochefort Company. -This edict automatically terminates itself once the threat of piracy has been declared by the Viceroy as non-existent.
